| Here are some of the spontaneous reactions of all kinds of readers that have been fortunate to read Frédéric Mari: |
" I pretty much read The Shine in a single sitting. The whole thing is so original and so pure that it should be a classic."

«I devoured The Shine in two days. It’s a very beautiful story, suitable for all ages. It’s really poetic, but written in a simple language that anyone – even children – can understand.»

“I just wanted to tell you that I finished reading « The Shine »... I really enjoyed your very personal way of telling the story of the Eternal Quest. I was touched by the eagle owl's nobility and seduced by the grace and charm of the snowy owl. But I think the glow-worm was my very favourite - what a touching, funny clown he is. He seems so real, and he made me laugh a lot. The whole thing just exudes a serenity that I greatly enjoyed.” |

“I had so much pleasure reading both your books ! "

"For the first fifty pages or so it was hard for me to get into the story of “Le Parlement des Rivières”, it seemed very far from my immediate concerns. But once I’d allowed the otherworldliness to take over I got caught up into, utterly seduced by the charm of the characters and the breathtaking plot. Even then, the reason I read the book all the way through was your skill as a writer, the way you handle your pen with such brio, your sense of humour, your logic, and the depth of thought I found there… I was never disappointed, not even once. The thing that made me happiest was the authenticity of your every sentence, the perfect parallelism between a thought and its expression. That’s something truly original, and yet it never feels like style for style’s sake… even if it did, your sentences would still be structured by your thought. In other words, it was delightful to read you, because you’ve managed to express what is dearest to you in these words.."

« I enjoyed this novel very much. It really is a “novelly novel,” big and well researched, full of twists that come together to construct a coherent mental and sensory universe. »

"The first thing I felt was a delicious sense of travelling, of escape, of getting to know new things. I really loved the descriptions of the landscape. The way the scenes follow on from one another makes the reader feel constantly out of breath. But what I loved most of all was the characters – the way they were described, their psychological profiles – we’re given everything so that we can put ourselves in their position and get to know them… that’s why I was talking about getting to know new things. If I had to make a comparison, I’d say that in terms of the characters it made me think of Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings”. Not that I think this copies that, but rather that I had the same feeling of knowing the characters well while reading both books. I hope you understand what I mean. And I have to admit, I was waiting to be disappointed by the story as a whole. All the films I’ve seen or books I’ve read about higher powers have disappointed me. This time though, I can honestly say that not only did the story grab me but it kept me constantly on my toes… it encouraged me to dream! I was literally absorbed in the text by the time I found out who was controlling and managing things, and what the Organisation’s aim was, and it was like that right until the last page. And so I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’ve had this book in my bag for three months,. But I don’t want to exchange it, or sell it. Anyone who reads this book will see what I mean."
